YubNub - The Internet Command Line

by Jorge on Jun 7, 02:29 PM

Ok, this is a cool idea. YubNub.Org is a command-line for the web. After setting it up on your browser, you simply type “gim porsche 911” to do a Google Image Search for pictures of Porsche 911 sports cars. Type “random 49” to return random numbers between 1 and 49, courtesy of random.org. And best of all, you can make a new command by giving YubNub an appropriate URL.

It’s such a neat idea, and so simple yet so extensible. Also, right before I did it myself, I saw that Stuart Eccles had created a Firefox search plugin and accompanying image (copy to your firefox searchplugins directory).

YubNub was created by Jon Aquino, who apparently is going to turn the internet into one giant operating system. Very neat.

Oh, and of course I created a command on YubNub to search DirtyGreek.Org, my personal website. Just go to YubNub and type the command

dirtygreek [searchterm]
